The Birth Year change has created a couple of unique challenges to the traditional soccer year calendar. One such challenge is the U15 teams’ Spring Season due to the fact that teams are made up of both 8th and 9th grade players. The area clubs and Georgia Youth Soccer have spent a great deal of time discussing the best way to handle this situation so that 8th grade players most affected by the change are able to have a productive Spring Season and continue developing while their teammates are in high school.
Eighth graders that are interested in playing soccer in the Spring will have the opportunity to do so in an Interim Spring Season League that runs from February to April. Here are the details:
* Training Twice a Week
* Eight-game season
* 11v11 games
* League Games will be set up by level of play comparable to player’s fall season
* $150 fee for the 3-month season
* 9th graders may play but must be able to make the commitment
Players that are interested in the Spring Season, need to let their regular 2022-2023 Season Coaches know. The registration for this program will open November 16th and should be completed, with payment, no later than December 30th. To register, please go to www.mountains.unitedfa.org and log into your Sports Connect account. (Login button is located in the upper right hand corner of the Mountains home page.) To the right of your player’s name, click on AVAILABLE PROGRAMS and choose the "2023 - U15 Spring Friendly program - Mountains".
